This software was designed to solve a very unique problem.
The customer had designed and distributed a product to the pensions market that was based on a word template. For every copy purchased they felt sure there was another unlicensed one.

The solution was split into 4 parts.

Part 1 required a key generator to lock down each individual licence to each machine. It needed to work both automatically over the web and via a telephone operator system. It also had to have the ability to issue variable length time based keys. The generator was written in VB with a VBScript version for the web.

Part 2 required an application to launch with the computer and validate the licence. If the licence had expired it would prompt to get another one otherwise it would show a splash screen and enable access to the word template. Various security measures were built in to act as anti-tamper measures.

Part 3 was VBScript added to the template to launch the validation application. This prevents the template being copied and using without a licence.

Part 4 needed a web interface to issue keys and keep records. The web interface allows for both manual and automatic issuing of keys. You can also check your account status as shown in the first screenshot.

Within one month of using Avail Security Software the number of registered users increased 3 fold.
